New Addition--"Foxley"

Just completed "Foxley" this morning. He took a little longer to finish than I had anticipated, but I love how he turned out. Foxley is 7 inches tall. He is needle felted and lightly wired for posing. He has a touch of super soft merino at his ears and chin. I also crocheted the little red basket Foxley is carrying.

Last Week at OKRF.

Only one week left for the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival. Bunny sales have been minimal...they apparently sell better at Halloween Festival of all things, lol. Wickedly Charming has done their best, will be selling Zombies and other fun needle felted creations there this Halloween, so looking forward to that. <3
Thanks to Kate Reyburn and her shop for giving them a place of honor, and me a chance to hock my wares, as I am unable to afford a booth of my own just yet.

Bear Brooch Is Finished.

The Bear brooch is complete. It measures 3 inches in diameter. Needle felted in a pale pink. The ribbon and lace are vintage.

Work In Progress--Bear Pin Brooch

Just a little something I am working on. I think it will make a great pin brooch once I am finished. It's needle felted in a pale pink wool, with 4 mm plastic safety eyes. I still have to add a touch of color and some vintage ribbon and lace to it, I hope it turns out exactly like I am envisioning it in my head. It turned out so well so far, I may have to make several of these. :)

A Halloween Teaser

Hehehehehe....It's almost Zombie season! Looking forward to making lots of zombies and other critters....This one already has someone wanting him and he isn't even dressed yet, lol.

Just sent Jeremiah Kitteh to his new home. He is very happy to be adopted.

A Li'l Monkey Business

How I Add Eyes - A Demonstration

This is typically how I add the eyes to my creations. After needle felting the head and body, I make an incision at the back of the head, and create a hollow area where I can get my fingers inside. I snapped these photos while creating Jeremiah Kitteh and Greyson Kitteh for this demonstration. (Feel free to click on any picture for a closer view. In this instance, I used 10 mm plastic safety eyes. I use this size typically for sculptures that are from 5 inches to 10 inches tall. They have washers to hold the eyes securely to the doll. I use an awl to make holes for eye placement, then snap the washer in place. I generally place the eyes about midway on the head.

 After I have attached the eyes, it's time to fill the hollow space with more core wool, then cover it with the outer dyed wool to hide the incision.

 Now the sculptures are ready for details, like ears, noses, and mouths. It may not be the perfect way to do this, but it is how I manage it, when I wish my creations to have eyes that are not needle felted. Thanks for visiting!

Grey Kitteh Quick Pics

Just finished this little kitteh this morning. He is 5.25 inches tall. Not the best lighting in my office, and I took only a couple quick pictures to show him off.

Little Dolls

I started this needle felting in a larger size due to a custom commission for a friend of mine. She requested two dolls. I probably should have taken more pictures of them, but I had to ship them to their new home, so I didn't get much chance to photograph them. Each has their name embroidered on the front of their little dresses, and are 9 inches tall.

New Blog for New Needle Felts

So, making a new place, and blog, for my needle felted sculptures. I've been quite busy, and plan to be busier in the future. All my sculptures are created by me using a variety of wool, and then single needle felting them into shape.  They are generally between five and seven inches tall, and lightly wired for posing. Each is one of a kind, and there are no patterns, only me and my imagination.
